This is a blog for all the wonderful dark, gloomy, slightly macabre cross stitch designs that are out there. Although most of the designs would make great Hallowe'en pieces, this is not a blog for those patterns that are only about Hallowe'en. Please let us know if you have a design you would like to see on this blog. Please share your finishes with us also.

Rotted Not Forgotted tombie
Here is my stitched Rotted Not Forgotted design from the 2012 JCS Hallowe'en magazine. The design is by Plum Street Samplers. It is a very popular design, I've talked to many people who bought the magazine just for this little tombie!

Gloomy Welcome
I love this new design from Designs by Lisa. It is appropriately titled A Vulture's Welcome. The spider button is included with the chart.

Plum Street Samplers Retiring Several Tombies
5 designs in the Exhumeplary Collection from Plum Street Samplers are being retired. Some of these are already getting hard to find. The tombies being retired are Eliza Pennance, Tillie Figg, Amos Figg, Jane Withers, and Emma Nettles.

An Adaptation Tombie
I saw this great ornament in the 2012 JCS Halloween ornament that I saw could be easily adapted to a great tombie. I'm not entirely happy with the angel on the tombstone, I may rework it. I stitched this with HDF Begrimed silk floss and I love the way that it looks.

Churchyard tombstones
Here is a tombie that isn't very gloomy. It will appeal to those who don't even like tombies. It's called Old Stone Church by Elizabeth's Designs. I think it's very peaceful looking.

An older tombie
I had completely forgotten about this gloomy tombie until I saw it on eBay the other day. This chart is apparently still available. The designer is Primitive Needleworks. I like the fish skeleton.
